The mission of Governmental Relations and Communications is to keep the public, the news media, and lawmakers informed about the operations of the Alabama Department of Human Resources.
Governmental Relations serves as liaison for congressional and legislative offices and directs the agency's legislative program. This work includes advising staff on legislative/political issues, producing legislative newsletters and reports, serving as liaison for other agencies, groups and officials, and responding to client calls, letters, and visits.
Communications responds to inquiries from the press, monitors news media, prepares and distributes news releases, produces the agency's annual report, develops public information materials, advises staff on media relations, responds to public requests for information, manages content for the department website, and provides audio/visual services for DHR staff.
