ConnectEBT Card Lock Instructions

Beginning Thursday, January 22, 2026, EBT cardholders will have the ability to manage their transaction blocking preferences through the ConnectEBT Mobile App, ConnectEBT website, or the EBT Customer Service phone number.  (See Transaction Lock/Unlock Instructions below).  The EBT Customer Service phone number will only allow the card to be unlocked and “Locked Everywhere”.  However, cardholders will be able to choose from three (3) blocking options on the ConnectEBT Mobile App and website:

  1. Block High-Risk Transactions (default) – EBT card will be active in all locations other than the states that have been identified by the Division as “High-risk”. EBT activity cannot be authorized in states which the Division has blocked.  Cardholders will have the ability to make purchases only at retailers located in Alabama.
  2. Lock My Card Everywhere – All transactions, including online and in-state, will be blocked and the cardholder will not be able to make purchases anywhere.
  3. Unlock My Card  – All blocks will be removed, including online, and the cardholder will be able to make purchases anywhere.  The Unlock feature will also allow cardholders to make purchases in states that the Division has decided to block and are considered “high-risk”.
