SACWIS, or Statewide Automated Child Welfare Information System, is a comprehensive automated case management tool.

In 1993, Congress passed The Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (Public Law 103-66) which requires states to develop a statewide automated system in order to receive enhanced funding through the Title IV-E program of the Social Security Act. The intention of SACWIS was, and is, to provide “a unified automated tool to support most, if not all, child welfare services.”

We are pleased to report that Alabama’s SACWIS, FACTS, also includes Adult Protective Services.
