The Office of Licensing is responsible for licensing residential child care facilities (i.e., child care facilities, group homes, and shelters) and child placing agencies. Licenses are issued to providers who meet the Minimum Standards for Child Care Facilities, Minimum Standards for Child Placing Agencies, Minimum Standards for Foster Family Homes and to those that meet/adhere to the requirements of the Therapeutic Foster Care Manual. This office is also responsible for registering boarding schools and other programs that house children over a 24-hour period. The Office of Licensing also provides support services, consultation, and interpretation of the minimum standards to prospective and existing child care providers and DHR county offices.
